Sunday 7th December 2008 will be the 40th anniversary of The Edinburgh Evening News Charity Walk. The walk became an annual event for the people of Edinburgh, and over 29 years, raised in excess of £1m for Edinburgh Charities. The first Christmas Charity Walk on the the 22nd December 1968, was held over a distance of more than 17 miles from Usher Hall to the old Edinburgh Airport and back. The first walk attracted 400 hundred entrants and raised £500.
