Wishing you a Merry Christmas
It's that time of year again where we hold our Christmas and New Year celebrations. An annual event that will see the beginning of a new year dawning and a time where we have many hopes for the future. I'm quite sure that many people worldwide will hope for different things. But I am also sure that most people are united in the hope for peace worldwide. I don't think this will happen in my lifetime when we have so many problems cropping up all over the world. But, despite our thoughts and hopes, we must always look forward too the future and work hard to change that.
We all have a part to play in these changes. We can sit and do nothing, or we can work worldwide to change the mindset of those in power to change this way of thinking. World peace is something that I hope for every year and I will hope for it again this year.
At this time of year I let you know how well this site has done by producing my figures for you to have a look at. Both sites have done very well this year and I am surprised how many people are interested on the events that go on in Edinburgh by playing the video, listening to the sounds and looking at the photographs and other material that is on these site. The figures climb upwards each year given that the first site went up on the 7 June 2004. The figures that I am showing you are this years figures from 1 January 2006 to 15 December 2006. What amazes me is the reach that the Internet has. It spreads all over the world letting it go global, and there is hardly a country that it can't reach, although China needs to open up a little bit more. These are this years figures below.

I don't like missing the staff that make whole of the Internet work out, and we should never forget the work that goes into making the whole thing work. There are many people working in the background that most surfers forget about, such as the people who keep the search engines up and running and the people who keep the connections connected. These are the people who are always developing new technology and easier ways to let them manage their Internet accounts. I went up to 8 megabytes in speed this year, yet I think that it was not that long ago since I was on a 56 kilobyte connection.
When I got connected to the Internet I took on a 56 kilobyte connection which then went up to 250 kilobytes. Shortly after that the speed went up to 2 megabytes and now up to 8 megabytes. This is a technology that is always moving and one that has no signs of slowing down. I must say I was glad to see the back of the old DOS system and the introduction of Windows 95 coming in. From those day the programmes have moved at an alarming speed, making the working of a computer a lot easier for everyone.
Again I wish one and all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for the year 2007 and beyond. Each day is different from the day before - unfortunately each year only reminds me that I'm another year older than I was last year.
So until next year I wish you all the best.
