A power far greater than us
The rest of the world has looked on in horror at the tsunami disaster in Asia and the aftermath that it has left behind. If anyone has any doubts that there is power far greater than the human race, then they should think again.
I am amazed how soon people can really come together with the aid and support required for the people who have been caught up in this disaster, although nothing but time can alleviate the suffering of those who have lost family and friends through this disaster which has been a wake up call for us all no matter who or where we are.
The emotional scars will remain with the people effected for the rest of their lives, knowing that there was little or nothing that they could do against the forces of nature that blight the planet that we live on.
It is hard to envisage at this point in time, but some good may come out of this disaster given time if our world leaders can come together and start planning for the disasters that can happen at anytime in the future and which we have been warned will happen more frequently.
Nothing could have stopped the forces of nature that we have seen, but if anything is to be learned from this disaster, our world leaders need to start with the proper forward planning that is required for such disasters that we have little or no control over.
The assessments that have been carried out by scientist over the years need to be taken seriously and brought together with the world and religious leaders. There are so many issues that need to be looked at properly and without prejudice if we are to survive on this planet.
Scientists have been warning us for years that we can't carry on in the way that we have for years without any regard for the earth that we have taken for granted for so long. We have ignored what scientists have been saying, and there is no doubt that we are damaging this plant without a thought for the generations that we hope are going to follow us.
If this is a wake up call, then we need to start acting seriously so that we can all benefit from the world that we live on. We are not greater than the forces of nature, and if we can all agree on that, then we can move forward with some hope.
There are powers far greater than the human race, and we need to live in harmony with the powers of nature that we live with daily. This is a world that has to be shared with all if we are going to move into the future with hope.
If this was a wake up call, let's start taking heed to what damage we are doing to our planet.
Generosity from our leaders should not just happen when there is a disaster and when it hurts to see other peoples suffering. We all have duty to look after the world and the people on it, and we all need to start thinking that way now.
We owe it to people of the world and to the generations that are going to follow us in the future.
We are just the custodians of this planet, and we have a duty to look after it for the generations that will follow us.
