Don't let terror run free in UK
On Tuesday afternoon I sat glued to my television as the events of terrorism at its worst started to unfold in America.
My deepest sympathies went out to the people of America as they came to terms with what was happening.
About three weeks ago I spoke on our local radio station phone-in on the subject of illegal immigrants coming into this country by their hundreds, many from Afghanistan, Palestine and Iraq.
I felt that I had to express my fears at the amounts of illegal immigrants trying to come into this country with no checks on them. I also expressed my concerns that while we are still at war with Iraq there was nothing stopping Islamic extremists getting into this or any other country claiming refugee status.
I can only feel disgust, revulsion and horror at this new chapter in world terrorism, which must be tackled by our governments immediately. Is it not time for our Government to start issuing identification cards to the people of this country so that we can keep some kind of control on illegal immigration, and the possibility of Islamic terrorism in this country that it brings with it?
We have seen the IRA with their campaign of hate and terrorism against mainland Britain for far too long. The last thing that the people of this country want is terrorism coming from the Middle East, by people who have no regard or value for life whatsoever.
Terrorism tends to happen at random, and words can't describe the way I feel about countries and the people that carry out these types of acts on property and innocent people.
Because of a changing world where mass immigration seems to be the norm, I feel the Government must take on board seriously the facts that no one knows if Islamic extremists have managed to penetrate our country through illegal immigration.
Is the time not right for our Government to treat this subject seriously and to realise that we must take terrorism from all parts of the world seriously?
I will never forget the day that I watched those horrific pictures on television and listened to the story unfolding.
My heart-felt sympathies goes out to the people of America over these devastating events. They must never be allowed to happen again.
